Young Single Adult Trainers
Thank you for being willing to serve as part of the Tabernacle Training effort. As a YSA Trainer, you play a key role in helping youth prepare to give meaningful tours that strengthen their confidence and testimony. You do not need to know everything, your willingness to learn alongside the youth is part of the training experience.
Your Role
As a YSA Trainer, you will help prepare youth to give short (3–5 minute) presentations at one of nine tour stations. You will be part of a team of YSAs who receive training first, then work directly with youth at a stake-organized training event. Your focus is to help youth feel confident and prepared to teach and bear testimony. You will coordinate with Stake YW/YM Leaders, assigned Stake High Councilors or Stake Presidency members who oversee the youth participation.
Depending on needs, you may be asked to prepare for one or two stations and, at times, assist with giving tours if your YSA Stake is invited to do so.
How to Prepare
Start by reviewing the scripts provided for the nine stations under the Youth Tab. Then go to the Study Guide to learn more about the station(s) you will be teaching. By dedicating a few minutes each day for two or three weeks before the youth training meeting, you’ll become more confident and able to present without needing notes.
The better prepared you are, the more confident and effective you will be as you train and support the youth. Remember that this experience is not just about teaching information, it is about helping yourself and others come closer to the Savior.
As you can see in the Learning Pyramid illustration, those who teach about the Tabernacle learn the most. Involving others by asking questions helps them gain more from the experience.
Time Commitment
A training session will be conducted with a group of YSA trainers (usually 10 to 12 people) to help you understand your responsibilities and review study materials. The meeting lasts about an hour. The youth training meeting where you will train the youth lasts one to two hours.
